Cleaning Cupcake Pans

My cupcake pans have taken a beating over the past few weeks … they were getting pretty nappy.  {Under the Table and Dreaming} showcased {THIS} dryer sheet idea on her Facebook page.  You read that right! DRYER SHEETS!  I cleaned my cupcakes pans with dryer sheets and they look a million times better.  I didn’t even have to scrub very hard and it was very quick.

WHAT?! Dryer sheets?! That's crazy. :) I'm so glad for that tip--I was contemplating just throwing mine away. :)

I tried this yesterday with frying pans, didn't work at all :( I guess it's a different kind of muck though.

Bon Ami is a powder cleaner and works great on stainless steel pots and pans. Works great on my Emeril pans...

Just read your dryer sheet tip and can't wait to try it on those muffin tins! I keep dryer sheets on hand to remove bugs from my car. Just wet the dryer sheet and rub gently, the bugs come right off! Just be sure to rinse any dryer sheet residue off the car.

hi, can someone tell me what dryer sheets are??? i so want to try this!

Anonymous said...

I wouldn't do this - dryer sheets are super toxic. (Google it...)

Anonymous said...

Dryer sheets are highly toxic! In fact, if you haven't used it, you must dispose of it in a toxic waste facility because it is an EPA groundwater contaminant and it's illegal to throw them away unused. PLEASE don't use dryer sheets to clean things you'll be ingesting!!!!

Wonderful tip! I would like to use that tip to clean my cupcake pans.

is this used or unused does it matter ?

Unknown said...

This works much better and it's safe. use one quarter cup of baking soda in a small glass bowl and squirt in hydrogen peroxide until it makes a nice paste. Then you rub it on the offending dirt-stain-grease

And now your cupcakes will smell spring fresh!

I'm sure that whoever posted this, much like I do, assumes that you shouldn't have to be told that AFTER USING THE DRYER SHEETS, YOU WASH THE PAN W/ SOAP AND WATER!!!!! SMFH I lose more hope in humanity everyday.

Will this work on chrome....I want to clean my motorcycle pipes.

Anonymous said...

I totally agree. You would have thought it would be obvious but I guess not......lol

terri said...

bless the person that had to state the obvious about washing it after. you would think people would know this, but apparently they are 'confused'.. I guess they think you eat the dryer sheet after scrubbing off the crumbs/gunk. seriously people?!! wash it!! it's not porous!

Kathy said...

Do you use it dry or wet? And does the pan need to be heated first?

Anonymous said...

I use that to clean everything. Not just pots and pans. Works great on sinks, bathtubs, tile floors. Just have to rinse very well is all.

Unknown said...

What is dryer sheets?

Anonymous said...

Bounce fabric softner dryer sheets

I use store brand that I picked up for $1.

Unknown said...

UM....just soak the pan in the washing up water for a few hours or o/night after you've done the dishes. Mine never get that dirty anyway but the water will soften any baked on stuff and is easily cleaned.

Ditto!

I was thinking the exact same thing. Smh.

Anonymous said...

Anyone with a ounce of common sense would wash the pan after. Lol

But either the dishwasher or boiling would remove any residual chemicals

Dishwasher or boil to remove residual chemicals

I tried it and it didn't work at all.

Wet dryer sheets can also easily remove dried on love bugs from your car.

Anonymous said...

Actually what do you do with the dryer sheets.

Unknown said...

The night dew will make that goop wipe right off.. lay it in
