Egg Wreath

For years I have been eyeballing the egg wreath at Joann’s Fabrics (Probably since college! Ha!).  Every year during Easter, it comes back out and I never end up buying it.  The traditional and Earthy look of the wreath is totally my style; however I could never bring myself to buy it.  I always felt like it was just a wee bit to much (even on sale) and by the time the Easter stuff was more than 60% off, they would be sold out.  Two years ago, I finally decided to make my own.  So glad I did!  Mine turned out a million times better and probably a little cheaper too!

As I said, I made this TWO years ago and I am just now bloggin’ about it … I am so lame!  Haha!  After I made this, when plastic Easter eggs went on sale, I stocked up … For some reason I probably have (35) 1 dz packages of eggs!!  Looks like I need to make a wreath for everyone I know!

I purchased a simple green wreath form at Hobby Lobby.  I hot glued the plastic eggs to the wreath form.  I started adding eggs to the inside of the circle first, then skipped to the outside.  I wanted to make sure that I kept the “round” shape of the wreath, then I filled in the rest of the wreath.  The filler eggs were glued on a little less “perfect”.  (I did NOT put eggs on the back of the wreath form, only the back and the sides.)  Once all of the eggs are glued on, I spray painted the eggs, the wreath form … the whole thing.  Of course, some of the darker colored eggs take a little bit more paint than the others; so if you think about it just buy white plastic eggs (they’re usually the same price anyway.)  It’s so much easier to hot glue the eggs and THEN paint.  Do not try to paint your eggs before you hot glue them … trust me.  Once everything is painted, just shove moss in-between the eggs with a little hot glue.  I used the Spanish Moss from Dollar Tree … But I think it might have been cheaper to get the big bag at Hobby Lobby with a coupon.

A burlap bow offers a simple finishing touch.
