Trying Out Gum Paste

Mrs. Rooster and I decided to try our hand at gum paste for her daughter's birthdays.  Wow! It was so much easier  to master than fondant.   We purchased the mix from Michael's with a coupon.   We used cookie cutters to cut out the shapes.  Gum paste shapes really keep their form, unlike fondant that can stretch.  The daisy flowers were placed on an egg carton that was flipped upside down.  Our next plan  . . . To actually sell a cake for profit.

GUM PASTE CAKE

We ended up being lazy and didn’t roll circles for the centers of the daisies.

Great job. I haven't tried gum paste yet, but I am inspired to give it a try now. I wonder if it tastes better then fondant.
