Cupcake Icing

I am still trying to perfect my icing recipe and trying to practice getting the icing on the cupcake absolutely perfect.  I have come to find out that you can alter the icing {RECIPE} any way you want.  I have added cream cheese, liquid coffee creamer, sour cream, whipping cream, and you could probably even add in yogurt if you wanted too.  I like adding in liquid coffee creamer because it gives the icing a rich vanilla taste but only add in a a little; however, if you add too much, just keep adding in more confectioners sugar.  I know with time, that I will get better at applying the icing to the cupcake.  These are red velvet with cream cheese icing.

Still Sewing ...

I have been missing for quite some time now ... However, I have been sewing and sewing and sewing.  I am currently working on a bedding order for a little girl's room.  I am in love with the fabric selection!! Oh my, I can't wait to get it finished and see it in the bedroom.

Pink, Brown and Green Room Decor

I was super excited when I was able to make some décor for a little girls room.  Check out the fabric selection! Isn’t it fabulous?!  I didn’t use a pattern to make any of these items; I looked up all of the sizes online and used my rotary cutter.
I made a dust ruffle, (2) standard pillow shams, (2) euro shams, (2) throw pillow covers, and a set of curtains.  The customer purchased an ivory duvet to go with the items that I made.

I know the picture isn’t too great because all of the pillows aren’t in the covers, and it’s not actually in the room.  I am hoping that I can get some pictures of the room.

Cupcakes and More Cupcakes

I have been on a cupcake making spree!  Mainly because I have been trying to master the fluffy icing that comes on cupcakes when purchased in the store.  I finally found a recipe that I like and it is easy to manipulate.  I used the recipe below.  I have modified the recipe with cocoa powder and cream cheese.  Apparently, you can modify this recipe with other ingredients such as heavy whipping cream too.

Also, you have to use a HUGE icing tip! I don’t remember the exact name of the one that I purchased at HL but it is 2" long with a 3/4" opening. It worked like a champ!  I am pretty proud of myself … Onto “perfecting” the icing recipe for the perfect taste.

Icing Recipe:
2 sticks of unsalted butter
1/2 bag of powdered sugar
vanilla extract

I didn’t use the giant tip on these polka dot cupcakes.

Brown and Blue Baby Bedding

Remember the custom baby bedding order that I made {HERE}.  I was able to get a few pictures from the customer via her cell phone.  Everything looks so stinkin’ cute in the nursery.  I can’t wait to do another baby bedding order.

Personalized Sign: Letter “L”

Awhile back I made this “L” sign for my Mom.  I used an old picture that I painted over and purchased a wooden L.  I used scrapbooking paper and other odds & ends to jazz it up.  I really enjoy making easy personalized gifts like this for people.  Remember the “A” that I made for Mrs. Rooster {HERE}.

Personalized Baby Food Containers

Have you seen these baby food containers at HL? When I saw them, I knew I had to make some for Baby Carly.  They even have other containers, like coffee cups, paper weights and etc.  Super easy and super cute! My kind of project.
